Secure Planet, Inc. (SP) is seeking to add a well-qualified Field Service Engineer (FSE) with a background in communication systems to add to our team as we expand our small, dynamic, group of FSEs supporting the Near Real-time Identity Operations (NRTIO) biometric collection systems.  This is an opportunity to support the Army’s authority for biometrics,  Project Management Office DoD Biometrics, with the day-to-day maintenance and repair of tactical communication systems, servers and networks supporting biometric collection operations. This includes preventative, controlled, emergency, and corrective maintenance. These important communication systems within the Customer’s portfolio give soldiers the decisive edge on the battlefield. You will work in a small team at a Government’s site in the CENTCOM AOR. Each day you and your fellow team members will work with the Government customer and other FSEs to:

  1. Sanitize equipment prior to offsite maintenance
  2. Checks security controls following maintenance
  3. Ensure that personnel performing maintenance on the information system have required access authorizations
  4. Maintain a list of authorized maintenance personnel including third-party maintenance providers
  5. Inspect all maintenance tools brought into a facility by maintenance personnel for obvious improper modifications
  6. Check all diagnostic and test program media for malicious code before use
  7. Provide mission analysis to the Government on the required level of data, bandwidth, and throughput necessary to support NRTIO’s response time requirement
  8. Respond to help desk ticket requests within 48 hours (routine) and 8 hours (emergency)

Required Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience satellite communication platforms and technologies similar to the Remote Satellite Kit (RSK) 100, Small Satellite Kit (SSK), Manpack Satellite Kit (MSK), MCD-4800 (Football), and 4G routers that exploit local cellular service

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with providing field sustainment support across a wide spectrum of communication systems to include but not limited to:
    • Remote Satellite Kit (RSK) 100;
    • Small Satellite Kit (SSK);
    • Manpack Satellite Kit (MSK);
    • MCD-4800 (Football);
    • 4G routers that exploit local cellular service
  • Understanding and background performing operation and user maintenance on deployed biometric


  • Experience maintaining communication networks
  • Knowledge of Ku-Band Fixed Satellite Service (FSS) Commercial Satellite

Physical Job Requirements

Work on-site (no telework) up to 7 days per week, 12 hours a day
