Secure Planet Privacy Statement
Secure Planet, Inc. takes privacy seriously, and protecting privacy throughout our work is an important priority for us. All of Secure Planet’s activities are fully compliant with applicable federal, state and local laws, policies, and regulations. Secure Planet collects biometric identifiers (i.e., fingerprint, iris, facial image) and associated biometric information strictly for research purposes, and we obtain written consent before performing any such collection; furthermore, Secure Planet does not collect biometric identifiers or any other associated biometric information from unwitting subjects. Our biometric research follows generally accepted privacy practices that include the use of a Human Subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB) as appropriate.
Specifically, Secure Planet does not collect an individual’s biometric identifier without the following conditions first being met:
- Informing the individual in writing that a biometric identifier is being collected or stored
- Informing the individual in writing of the purpose and length of term for which the information is being collected
- Obtaining a written release from the individual
Secure Planet uses a reasonable standard of care to store, transmit and protect from disclosure any paper or electronic biometric data collected. Such storage, transmission, and protection from disclosure is performed in a manner that is the same as or more protective than the manner in which Secure Planet stores, transmits and protects from disclosure other confidential and sensitive information. Secure Planet only retains biometric data for the length of the research purpose in question, after which the data is expunged and destroyed.
